Porquerolles in Autumn: Walks and Practical Tips
Mediterranean orchards or the beaches around Le Langoustier: Porquerolles offers more than a day of swimming. Two official walking routes provide different ways to explore, with one essential first step: checking the return ferry.

The coastline of Porquerolles
An island need not be explored only from a beach towel. On Porquerolles, you can choose a walk, look more closely at an agricultural landscape or pause by the sea. To plan an autumn day, start with your interests and the time available rather than trying to see everything.
Port-Cros National Park itself recommends avoiding July and August to better appreciate its sites. That advice promises neither an empty island nor fine weather. It does, however, suggest a different way to approach a visit.
A short loop through the orchards
On its visitor portal, the Park describes the short COPAINS circuit as a 2.6-kilometre loop, with a suggested duration of one hour and a very easy difficulty rating. Use that route page and its map when planning, rather than relying on an isolated distance.
The walk offers a view of the island through agriculture, fruit-tree collections and the conservation of a living heritage. It introduces a side of Porquerolles beyond its beaches.
Consider it if you want to leave plenty of room for breaks. The walking time is a guide, not a deadline: adapt your day to the people travelling with you.

Le Langoustier for a longer walking day
Another official option, the Langoustier circuit, is listed at 11.4 kilometres, around four hours and 185 metres of ascent. Although the Park rates it easy, it requires more time than the orchard loop.
The route crosses the west of the island, linking four beaches through woodland, rocky sections and agricultural scenery. It creates a different rhythm, with pauses becoming part of a walking day rather than a series of attractions to collect.
Choose it according to your fitness, the conditions and available daylight. The two loops are presented as alternatives, not as routes that visitors must complete together.
Your return ferry helps shape the day
The TLV-TVM crossing to Porquerolles leaves from La Tour Fondue on the Giens peninsula. Watch for seasonal changes: in the timetable checked on 23 October 2026, the 6.30 pm return is listed only until 25 October. A different timetable begins on 2 November.
Do not plan around an old departure time. Check the services for your actual date, allow a comfortable margin for the return and remember that weather or technical issues can lead to timetable changes.
Keep the outing simple and well prepared
The Park states that there are no water points outside the villages, so bring your own supply. Review the route map, access information and local instructions before setting off. Dogs must be kept on a lead on paths and are not allowed on beaches.
This article does not advertise a package or promotional fare. Check the ferry price and, depending on your plans, parking, meals or rental costs. The operator identifies paid car parks near the departure point.
Our suggestion: choose one suitable loop, leave time to reach the ferry without rushing and enjoy the freedom to stop and look around. That is already a rewarding island escape.
